Default UPDATE #27...The Katech Beast is alive!!! Tuning on the Dyno has started!..PICS !!!

Today was a great day as the Beast finally spit out some fire! The car sounds awesome. It's not annoying loud and has a deep growl leaving no question it's looking for lunch. I never heard it past 3000 RPMs as today the tuner was setting everything up. It's being tuned in granular steps which will take longer than most tunes.

I took some video of it on the dyno and as usual the mic on the Sony does it no justice. I am also having trouble figuring out how to DL to my computer. I'll get it eventually!

The history is in these threads:

UPDATE #26...The Car Will Breath Fire Tomorrow! She's Ready For The Dyno! PICS!

Here are the latest pics. There shouldn't be too many more updates that involve pictures inside!

A few more switches have been added. The interior dash work is far from done and will look great. Firing this thing up is a rush! Hey I just realized I have two corvettes that are keyless.

The MoTec Engine Management and Data Acquisition is in, hence the tuning has started.

I was fitted in the car today and the seat feels great. It Shouldn't take me more than a half hour to climb in and out of this thing.

The Lexan front windshield is in but needs to be secured. The rear will go on after tuning.

Here's my baby's first steps! This was the first time the rolling chassis was used since going on the rack. She was shoeless for 6 months! Don't worry, it will sit much lower and have more bodywork bringing it very close to the ground

It was tough tying her down, all she wanted to do was run. We finally corralled her and strapped her down.

The stage is set!

Minutes after this shot the tuning began. Why can't there be a cheap exhaust for our Z06's to sound like this?

Tomorrow the tuning should be done and I should have the dyno numbers. I will be at VIR for the NCM HPDE this holiday weekend. When I return it should be close to GO time!

Once the rest of the body work is put on I guarantee GRANDMA will be able to tell the difference!

Katech LS7, the new Godzilla of the modern age!

Naw...............just bored. What were the specs on your wheel and tire combo? I remember it was an unusually hard set of rubber to get.

The tires sizes are 305/325 F/R but remember these are slicks!

The tires are Pirelli P-Zeros.....better than super-glue!

Vegas,

There is no chrome on this car so that should help with weight savings quite a bit.

There are some interior/exterior components that could have been replaced with CF, etc...This car could have been made a little lighter, but I really do not think it could've been made safer.

I am hoping to be under 2700lbs.

I will have different sets of rim/tires (dry/rain). Do you think I should get a set of chromies for when it's just sitting in the paddock?

WOW! Again I am in shock! This car is going to be a rocket ship! Are you sure you do not need to get your IFR before you take flight?

It's certainly the fastest track car I will have ever been in. 4-5 years and I should get the hang of it!

Jim,

That's special C6R Tape...I've been waiting for it for 5 months...this is what held everything up! The blue tape will stay!

Adam,

Unlike airplanes, I'm hoping my wing keeps me grounded!

I can just hear it now. That car is great, but for the money it cost, he could have done a lot better with the INTERIOR.
