Default UPDATE #14... Finally somewhere to sit...The ultimate in downforce...PICS !!!

EDIT: Floor cut out pics added.

I stopped by the shop today to check out some new parts that came in.
It looks like another week or so of fabrication. We were very successful getting the seat I wanted put in. We removed the floor and built brackets so the seat would fit. We should see a lot of progress soon.

The history is in these threads:

Fourteenth Post
UPDATE #13...Katech's LS7...Fuel Cell Covers...more to come very soon...PICS!!!

Here are a couple pics of the floor that was cut out.

You can see here why this seat required so much work. The roofline doesn't allow many options without modification.

Finally...one of the key pieces I've been waiting for. This carbon fiber wing is from Pratt and Miller. It has spent countless hours in the GM wind tunnel.

The black and green pieces you see on the end of the table are the carbon fiber end pieces. This wing is extermely light.

Here's one of the two supports that will hold it.

The next task will be to make it fit with the front splitter. We had one custom made and without a good design, the rear wing is worthless as they work hand-in-hand.

I think I'm going to require some additional seat time! But it sure will be fun figuring out.

Mike

They say the worst part about learning to drive with a wing is the extra speed you need to make it work in a curve!!!

Thanks Scott. Still quite a small wing compared to what you're used to.

Dan,

That's exactly what I've been talking about!

With the floor out, I almost did the Fred Flintstone with it.

Is it time for VIR yet?

Without that wing, I would need one!

I'm looking forward to quite a bit of instruction. I already have 3 pro's lined up. I hope I get a chance to drive.

Each update you post is always but this really explains why there is so much effort getting the seat right. I'm looking forward to seeing the seat on the right side though.
Man, that is a serious wing, I am looking forward to seeing that thing at speed.

Default Great looking car 'in the background'

Hey, on one of the pictures, I couldn't help but notice a fabulous looking C5 in Pewter, with a black stripe. Is that you'rs too? If so, I'm jealous! You can keep your C6 'BEAST', I'm a C5 man myself . . .

Hope you can keep up pal.

Default Scratch on my car

Forgot to mention a little confession from my wife over the weekend. Guilt must have gotten the best of my wife when she admitted to backing into my Corvette while it was on the driveway. I hadn't noticed on that day, but asked her a week later when the scratch was revealed during my hand wash. Her reply, "I have no idea what you're talking about" . . .

That incident occured about a year ago, and she mentioned it last week!

Nice!

Default Nice Seat

Mike, you thought you had difficulty seeing the Green Flag out at Bondurant in a mostly stock C5. Wait until you get into 'THE BEAST' with helmet, Hans and that fancy seat. I'll be 2-car lengths ahead of you before you see the flag waving. Good thing you're taller than me so we can be 'EYE TO EYE' on the podium . . . .

Luv ya man!

very, very

But I have to be honest - I'd be afraid to drive that thing hard with all the time and money that has been (and still will be) put into it! One little mishap and that's a lot of $$ down the drain.

That is totally badass though. Awesome!
