Re: 94 LT 1 transmission problem (American Muscle)

Manual first or second has accessed the intermedaite boost valve, this gives higher line pressure. This could be a "restricted" filter, front pump is losing its volume, to much wear (clearance) at...

Re: Transmission rebuild questions. (rkessel)

If the transmission came with the 13 vane, then use the 13 vane setup. If it came with the 10 vane, then going to a 13 vane setup is a waste of money & time, and will not improve "anything" but in...

Re: What's the best stall converter for $500 or so? (ski_dwn_it)

GER is the worst torque converter on the market with B&M a close second. From what I have heard about Edge in the last year has been pretty good, but the Vigilante is the one to beat. I have had no...

Re: 700R4 trans help needed (ROME)

The 3-4 clutch pack is the major weak point in these units, as you've just seen. There are a few things that can be done to improve this transmission immensely. If you have any questions, let me know?

Re: 10" GER converter, any one with experience with them ? (Runum)

GER the absolute worst in the torque converter business, with B&M running a close second.

Re: Whats the better Transmission service? (86PACER)

(1) You should monitor the fluid weekly and after doing something out of the ordinary. If you notice a change in the smell (burnt) and/or color of the fluid (brown) you should do a "complete" change...

Re: Automatic Transmission Question (CFI-EFI)

First, wipe off the areas above the pan, then go back in about an hour and take a white paper towel and wipe above the pan till you find exactly where the leak is, now you will know what to address....

Re: 700R4 shift kit advice needed (ANTI VENOM)

Not all 700R4's will hold 1st gear to any speed, the Corvettes do this better than others. The main purpose of the kits is to increase the capacity (hold against more horsepower/torque) of 3rd & 4th...

Re: Transmission Control Valve - Anyone ever pull one and service? (johnnyevans)

Any transmission shop will have this. About $1.00 or $2.00 for the gear, and a couple of bucks to install it.

Re: Transmission Problem: Need SOme Advice Please (Rich & Lisa_84)

If you lost all the other gears at one time, then it is the governor gear, broke or stripped. If you cannot find the broken pieces, when you take it out, don't worry about the pieces floating around,...

Re: Trans-Go Shift Kit Install cost? (65Z01)

Go to someone who is familiar with Trans-Go's way of thinking, and installs their kits on their transmissions. You can modify this kit to get longer life and firmer WOT shifts while retaining the...

Re: 4L60E Slip in 2nd Gear. Rebuild needed? (Lone Ranger)

The "modified" Trans-Go Performance Shift kit can really help these units by keeping smooth part throttle shifts, while getting firm WOT shifts. These units, when setup correctly can hold up to 625 -...

Re: Torque Converter vs. Gears, what's the low down? (TreyZ28)

Since we are comparing what "each" will do, and assuming that everybody here is running decent tires ( not 5" polyglass of the 1960's), then the biggest gain (everytime) would be a torque converter...

Re: 700 tranny (JUAN J SANCHEZ)

It might be possible with the new "Torque Drive" input shaft & drum assembly (so they claim). I personally am on the outside on this, as to if it will do as claimed, looks promising! As of now, for...

Re: 700 tranny (vette90)

You have lost the overrun clutches and/or the sprag/hub has broken. This is what gives you the braking effect. It might last awhile.

Re: Shift kit (davids86)

If you use a "modified" Trans-Go Performance Shift kit, it will shift smooth around town, and the shifts will get progressively firmer with more throttle.

Re: How much H/P can a a stock 4l60e tranny take (C4kid94)

The biggest limitations on a 700R4/4L60E are the 3-4 clutch pack (capacity). They improved this condition somewhat with the 1st design Borg Warner Hi-Energy 3-4 clutches in 1994, then the improved...

Re: No second gear in my '85 700R4 (MrRenoman)

Re: Auto Transmission Problem again 94 coupe (tbmoore)

Sounds like the rotor to torque converter hub broke. This will cause some vibration and the transmission will not do anything. To verify it is this, check to see if the bottom cooler line has flow...

Re: Anyone running B&M Trick Shift or Synthetic Trick Shift in a 4L60E ??? (honas)

The regular B&M Trick Shift is a Ford type "F", it will not help the clutches or band in a 700R4 or 4L60E. The reason it appears to make it "shift" harder is that it slips more at the bginning and...

Re: Is my tranny about to die? (scorp508)

If it is shifting firm at WOT only, you are probably ok. It does sound like there is a Shift kit in it from what you describe.

Re: Help-Blown Tranny (Bob86ZZ4)

The input drum (the majority of the time in Hi-Perf situations) breaks from running too much line pressure, blocking "accumulators", oversize boost valves, etc. I have seen this happen (rarely) when...

Re: My 700R4 has no OD (Southern Comfort)

If you have a "neutral" condition in the OD position, I would suspect the overrun assembly (sprag, clutches, hub). This happens once in awhile.
