Default need .2 would vigilante do the trick?

I have an 87 vette, and would like to know if anyone has gone from a hughes converter to vigilante or any other and picked up additional time in the 1/4? Stall speed 2500. If so what makes the vig. so much better? My best time is 7.92 in the 1/8 mi. @ 87.67 mph 1.79 60' with 2.73 gears. Do you think I could get down to 7.7 with this converter? Please help getting ready to buy another converter. Thanks . :yesnod:

I dont know vader, I dropped .3 off my 1/4 mile time with a fresh tranny and a 2600 stall, not saying you are wrong,,, because I dont know the set up on a 87,,, but my 90 I dropped .3
I believe Mr. Mojo,, went into the 12's with an addition off a bigger stall :seeya

You dont understand.

The 87 has stock a 1500rpm converter, what I read him as saying is that he already has changed that to a 2500TC and he wants to change brand.
Changing brands dont do sh**.

Now If he has stock and wants to go up in stall, yes, he can get his .2. I wouldnt go to 2500 if its a daily, more like 2200 on the L98.

Mojo went gears and TC to get 12s, but he also has LT1, different animal.

Keep your Hughes and go with 3.07 gears. That may buy you .2.

I run a 3100rpm Vigilante(very streetable) and my 60's are 1.70's, on BFG DR's. My 1/8 times are 7.80@88mph. I don't know if you will see 7.70's with just a converter. Good luck :) :)

ok guys thanks for all the info. Let me give you my setup and hopefully I can find .2 or more which would be even better. Here it is in a nut shell: zz3 engine with all the freebies, force air induction, air foil ,gutted maf, stock tb, ported plenum, siamese ported runners, ported stock intake, 1.6 rr, ported stock exhaust manifold, pocket ported the heads, bolar exhaust, 2500 hughes converter, stage 1 tpi chip, 2.73 gears. The chip was order for the stock engine, had all injectors flowed. would like fo keep stock gears, and manifolds. thanks.

I am really sorry about not answering your question before now, but has crazy work hours. The hughes converter size look to be the same size as the stock one.
