75 t-top project for sale or trade - Seattle

Due to a back injury which limits my ability to bend in the middle (pretty much required for getting in and out of a Vette ;)), I'm forced to sell my old red ground-pounder. Please give it a good...

Re: OT- workplace harassment... need help and advice!! (GDaina)

I fail to see what's so attractive about holding on to a job with this much 'baggage' attached to it. Life is too short.

Here's an excellent exit strategy:

Re: Optimum engine torque to lounch you car - are more than 400 lbsft. senseless? (Vetterodder)

Controlling a high-torque motor is simple - just put a heavier spring on the accelerator. :) I'm not kidding...if you use a progressive spring setup so that anything over 1/2 throttle requires both...

Re: Benefits of Solid Cams? Help. (WESCH)

The main benefit of a solid is >6000 rpm operation without lifter pump-up. If you're worried about tenths-of-a-second for racing purposes, you might want to get one. For street use, they don't really...

Re: Heet / Gas Line Antifreeze (Motor City Vette)

They're just ethanol - pure alcohol. Water mixes with alcohol - alcohol mixes with gas - add alcohol to gas and the water mixes in so it cannot freeze into water ice.

Re: Now that's a big wheel! Now I need some fancy brakes... (The Dude)

Why not just buy a shiny new Honda to start with instead of bastardizing an American classic with these ricer monstrosities that look like they'd be more at home on a forklift or baggage cart.

I'm...

Re: Valve Lash adjustment/ Start up problems (scottw)

You need to adjust the valves with the engine HOT and running. Static cold adjustment is not adequate. Get yourself an old valve cover, cut out just enough of the top to allow access to the adjusting...

Re: Calling all Auto meter guys (GrandSportC3)

I hate to be picky, but it took me a minute to realize what you were talking about, especially since the mistake was repeated & quoted by others:

1968 is commonly abbreviated as '68

Re: OUCH - big engine problems, will not turnover even by hand :*( (moosie982)

I'm casting my vote for broken timing chain/gear. The inability to idle and poor mileage is a good indication of having 'jumped time'. The fact that it went away again before the engine failed...

Re: Oil Pressure Woes continue... (Bobchad)

Sounds to me like you have a cracked pickup tube on the oil pump. An easy fix on a Vette. The tube only costs a couple of bucks.

Re: Roller rockers? (redwingvette)

You can get away with 10.5 with aluminum heads. They dissipate head faster than iron and the general rule of thumb is that you can run about a full ratio higher without pinging because of it. (i.e.,...

Re: engine and cam break in proceedure? (djlangford)

The MOST important thing is to set everything up so it starts immediately. You don't want to be grinding away on the starter for several minutes while you screw with things. The only thing you should...

Re: Help - mild hicups & backfires during engine decel (14-Paul)

Look for vacuum leaks. "Backrap" is often caused by a lean condition. First place to look is headlights & heater/AC. Disconnect & plug all the vacuum hoses & check to see if the noise is gone on...

Re: This one is for all you computer wizards... (1970 Stingray)

Whoops, just reread your description of your setup. If you are plugged into the wrong router port, you CAN'T access 192.168.1.1 - it's blocked.

Let me explain...routers are specifically designed...

Re: This one is for all you computer wizards... (1970 Stingray)

192.168.xxx.xxx is a standard "unpublished" subnet reserved primarily for local area networks. 192.168.1.1 is the address of the 'gateway' router itself. Your computer is probably 192.168.1.2. Most...

Re: Engine rebuilds....what does "30 over" really mean? (molchaser)

Re: White smoke after top end rebuild. (Ben Taylor)

Actually, stock headbolts should have nothing on them. The factory torque specs apply to "clean and dry threads" only. If you start gooping them up, the torque has to be adjusted for the specific...

Re: Anyone looking for some S/R Torquers? (gtr1999)

Apparently I was mis-informed by the head builder - they told me I was getting 76 CC heads and that I would probably see about 9.2:1 with my flat-tops. Now I understand why I had trouble setting up...

Re: harmonic balancer problem (pats406nitrovette)

There's absolutely NO 'leaving it a little loose' allowed on a bolt that has a factory torque specification! :) Check the book and tighten it until it clicks - nothing else is acceptible.
