C4 production run was extended by a few years...

C4 production run was extended by a few years because of money woes GM had at the time of C5 development. C5 target launch was originally intended to be around the same time as gen 4 F body launch.

Z51 option was $2800 and increased to $4000 in March of 2014 with an additional increase of $2000 in the base car price. Z51 was never $5k until NPP was added to the package
