Default Too much visible plumbing?

Do you think GM could have done a better job of hiding wiring and plumbing in the engine bay? Or was this just not possible, as it would have hidden too much of the engine they were trying to showcase. Just takes away from the beauty of the intake and red valve covers.

looks best w/o ZZ3 vcf covers
  • Jewel-like setting in the rear compartment, visible through the rear glass hatch.
  • Every part, including the exhaust system’s wires, tubes, routing fasteners, coolant hoses, exhaust manifold and even the bolts and fasteners, is built with appearance in mind. All engine components were given careful consideration just like the exterior, and even the heat shields are textured.

I'd imagine the aftermarket will offer ways to clean that up a bit. Same for all sorts of engine covers and appearance package items.
Replacements for the stock filler caps, etc.

NO!

I would assume the engine bay was design for, Function and Maintainability.

You ever tried working on an engine in an engine compartment designed for Looks, 1st, maintenance 2nd?

GM has proven time and again that they can’t design a good-looking performance engine compartment (at least not in the last 2 decades).

That’s why their usual ploy is just to cover the entire motor with a huge plasticy Tupperware lid or three and call it a day.

Actually, my preference is that all engine bits, including plumbing and wiring would be made attractive as possible, and do away entirely with the plastic cover.

You could argue the same thing for the C7 as well.

It's a $60k car. Not a $250k car.

Chevy should offer a solid cover instead of a transparent one.

There should be no engine. Just a block of wood.

You mean like the huge Tupperware lid under the hood of my Honda?

Low purchase price is not an excuse for poor design. What the posters are asking would not cost extra to manufacture.

Exactly.

I think no one with any pull at GM realizes that Corvette owners care more about the engine than Honda owners. On most Hondas (as with most transportation appliance cars), the hood could be welded shut entirely, and the owners wouldn't notice (or care).

My LS6 has very little visible plumbing and wiring.

All polished including the block and Lingenfelter intake. Only thing painted are the fuel injectors.

Getting rid of factory clutter is possible with a little planning.

Show me a picture of what that engine looks like at 10,000 miles. Will it look so shiny if you don't spend hours polishing it?

Ask me how I know, an why I try to limit the amount of polished or chrome parts in car(s) engine bay, I've built so I don't have to spent a lot of time trying to keep parts shining. It would be and owners nightmare to try an keep engine parts shined, if they drove it.

Also you have to take into account they are having to put header outlet on top, not on bottom of engine, shield them heat wise, muffler sitting right behind an below, aux radiatosr, Z51 tract option, etc to deal with, on a Sports Car, I hope engine bay was designed to replace component as quickly as possiblle with performance in mind 1st, looks last. It's a car.

So what if it has a glass in engine cover. Now I don't have to raise it so people can see the engine, but instead, lets people see the overall looks of C'8s bodylines, yet still see inside the engine bay.
