Obviously there are some options that are C7 exclusive and some that are C8 exclusive but I'd say that the differences are pretty minimal.
Just go onto the C7 Configurator which is still up and running and see what they are charging. They clearly list the prices for Z51, 2LT, 3LT, Bigger Spoilers, Stripes, Ground Effects, Comp Seats, Different color Wheels/Calipers/Seat Belts, Roof Options etc. and just add 1.5% - 5% to the price and I think you'll have a pretty good idea of what your selected C8 options will cost. Duh!

My deposit was refundable. But I was not going to back on on my car after I placed the order. I knew the price would be in line. I would guess the C7 pricing would serve as a very good predictor for the C8. I would cross reference price of those options and start with a base price of $60k. Could always add 10% to the cost of the options and I would think you would be close to high.

So you didn't order it, you gave your desired specs to the dealer. Not sure why people are bothering to do that without pricing unless you really don't care about the cost. Otherwise you are basically doing it twice.

For $50,000 extra I'll fly you to any restaurant you want anywhere in the world 1st Class and put you up in a 5 Star Hotel for the evening. I'll even get you a couple of "dancers" to do some unveiling.
Except it might not be a car they unveil.
You just gotta promise me that I can pocket the $35,000 left over after the "unbelievable experience"

[QUOTE=Skid Row Joe;
If you consent by entering into a legally binding cintract to buying a car where you don't know how much it is costing you? Both you AND THE dealer have loose screws.
I learned this in Business Law school my first year of college!
To have a binding contract, you have to have a bargain, a promise and certainty. No price = no certainty, which = no contract.
I learned this in Business Law class my third year of college!

Or maybe these people dont work in the industry and just have no idea how this works? Maybe instead of being condescending and adding nothing of value to the forum, you could teach these people something since apparently you have more industry knowledge than they

Any reputable dealer who is customer focused will refund you monies up to delivery. I mean they have a car to sell.
Unless you order something hideous they should put the car in their stock , wish you the best and say if you change your mind please come back.
Life changes chit happens.
Folks giving monies with unknown factors in the deal you guys are crazy. And that’s a kind statement.

One word that I haven't seen in this thread yet which all of us who ordered back when the C7 was young should remember: CONSTRAINTS
When I ordered my '14, I was bumped ahead of 2 others who wanted an exposed CF roof that my dealer couldn't get at the time on their open allocation. I was lucky to even get a painted roof on mine. Back then, some had to pay for a transparent roof just to get a car.

I don't know why all you guys are stressing yourselves out by rushing to order by putting down a nonrefundable deposit without even knowing pricing. That is crazy. Just wait until everything is known. So what if you lose your place in line. Yes, you will have to wait, but it will be less stressful, and you will get a better car. Maybe that's just me. I just can't see tripping over ourselves in a rush to give money to GM. It's supposed to be the other way around.

UPDATE: I’m assuming that someone here will put together a sticky that explains the whole C8 ordering process - plus another one that lists the weekly production constraints. For first-timers, here are a couple of links to Stickies in the C7 General Discussion that explain Allocations and Constraints; I haven’t heard that the process will change for C8s.

Constraints are mentioned above, but here’s a clarification for people that haven’t been through the ordering process. Using your example that people “had to pay for a transparent roof just to get a car,” I’d change that to say that people “chose to pay for a transparent roof to get their cars sooner, instead of waiting for the constraint on production of painted roof cars to end and getting their cars later.” The same thing happened with C6s. I’m assuming that someone here will put together a sticky that explains the whole C8 ordering process - plus another one that lists the weekly production constraints.
So, have a back up order plan if constraints become an issue with your C8 build.

I am number 2 on the list and my dealer will have 8 in the first round. My dealer said from the 24th to August 2nd I have to give them my specs even without pricing in place (but this is not an order and I am not held to buy)
I have till the order is physically placed then it will be locked in once signed which should be mid September. I can change the order all I want up to the day it’s being put in the system. They won’t move forward with my order till I sign off the week it’s due. I can walk and get my deposit back at that time and they will move to the next guy on the list. If I don’t know what I want at that time they will move to the next person on the list. Their goal is not to lose any allocation and keep the system flowing since this is a high demand vehicle.
I am not sure if this is true but was told by a GM employee in Michigan. It’s for GM to see what the take rate will be on specific options so the factory can pre-prepare for the start of build which I am told will start in December.
My goal is to click the box on everything I want and then I will pull back and change when it’s time to order especially if pricing is not in line. My deposit is completely refundable, let’s be honest no dealer will have an issue selling these cars.

Assuming the Event Status Codes for buying a Corvette haven’t changed from the C7 to the C8, I don’t believe anyone here has even reached 1000 for a C8. You may have a reservation and given the dealer your list of specs, but the official GM process hasn’t started yet. (That may change today.) There’s a long road ahead, folks...
