You can't buy lacquer paint anymore unless it is old stock. It is no longer produced, I think since around 2001. Believe it or not, base/clear isn't much harder to paint and is far more durable.

I didn't know you could stop a C3 from leaking water. I've never really seen one that didn't leak. My brother bought a '79 in 1983 and it leaked at the t-tops like crazy.

I'd clean the old oil out too. Use denatured alcohol to clean out the parts you can't dump out. I just pour it in there, let it sit for a little while, and blow it out with compressed air .Repeat....
