Re: """CHECK OUT THIS YELLOW BEAST""" (chillcat)

chillcat, you like it. That's what matters. I like the ground effects and the head lights.

Re: OK, Explain to me (JB666)

Yes. If you change your thermostat to 160 degrees, you need to also program your fan to go on sooner. That way the air will cool the radiator before the water gets hotter. On a regular car with a...

Re: Question for CA residents (Coupe89)

Nathan, the CHP's main job is patrolling the freeway. They enforce traffic laws and investigate traffic accidents. In California, it's technically illegal to modify your exhaust system, but none of...

Re: Bowling Green trip from hell...car damaged bad...pics :( (90 Corvette ZR-1)

Thank God you didn't get hurt. We had a guy throw a tire that went across the freeway, hit the windshield of an oncomming car and killed the driver. I was about 300 yards ahead of the guy that got...

Re: Moving to So. Cal with a 85 (1985vette)

I''m in Anaheim. If you need to find a smog check station, let me know. I met one tech would was real cooperative. I won't elaborate ("Big Brother" could be watching). I'm sure he'll give you some...

Re: Working on your Vette. Does it give pleasure or steam you? (eddieL98)

Oh YAH!! I love working on my Vette. It's the only car that I've owned that I actually enjoy repairing. I even look for parts that might need to be replaced. I that insane or what? I even...

Re: Corvette News: Fall Issue-1984 (Bruthish)

I'd like to get a copy of the articles for the '85 Vette. By the way, I've got the original Hot Rod magazine and Super Chevy magazine that cover the'85 Corvette. I had sent it into CorvetteForum a...

Re: baking parts in the oven (85red_vette)

You have to baste the parts with garlic and butter. Then when you put the parts back on your Vette it'll smell like a Ferrari.

Re: Please allow me to introduce myself............. (Bruthish)

Welcome to the Forum. Definitely a fun car to drive. Try not to push the throttle too hard around town. The money you spend on tickets can be better used on the Vette. My first Vette too. It's...

Re: Help with Calipers, brakes, and usupension PLEASE!! (rjward)

88vettelover is right about being able to hear the sanding sound when you spin the rotors with the wheel off. When mine was warped (left front) I could hear it making that sanding sound when I would...

Re: Octane debate settled? (CFI-EFI)

Cool!! Thanks. I didn't know that. I'm not used to these fancy Corvette features. I'm still amazed that I have features on my '85 that are just becomming standard on regular cars.

Re: Help with Calipers, brakes, and usupension PLEASE!! (rjward)

No you can't see the warp. It could be just warped enough to rub on the calipers at the closest point. You could probably take the calipers apart and see if there is uneven wear, but then you'd...

Re: Octane debate settled? (CFI-EFI)

Nathan, if it does start "pingning" on you, maybe you can add some octane booster to get through the fuel that's in it now, rather than damage a valve. I know that you know your stuff about cars,...

Re: Help with Calipers, brakes, and usupension PLEASE!! (rjward)

Brake rubbing sound like sandpaper is probably a warped rotor. If there is enough material on the rotor, you can take it to any brake shop and have it trued. They turn the rotor on a lathe to true...

Re: Chevy 383 crate motor in 1985? (86Pacecar)

Smog legal? That's another question. In California, you can't legally run a crate engine on the street. I don't know what the laws are in your state, but you can e-mail your DMV and ask what the...

Re: [1985] Missing, runs rough, then dies (DF)

GENERALLY SPEAKING, if it dies when you try to accelerate, check your fuel system first. Start by hooking up a fuel injection pressure tester on the Schrader valve and see what reading you get. It...

Re: car dies when maf is disconnected ????? (gsxrjack)

It won't run without the MAF. The MAF senses airflow and tells the system what's going on. If I remove mine, it MIGHT idle, but as soon as I step on the throttle it dies. That's normal.

Re: POLL - What oil filter do you use on your Corvette? (biggrizzly)

A coffee can with a roll of toilet paper. You young studs probably don't remember, but there actually was a time when people put a roll of toilet paper into a container that screwed onto the engine....

Re: poly bushings and sway bar endlinks (Netnarc2)

Here's a link to one of the articles. It doesn't show the front sway bar (that I could find) but it does show how to use clamps and sockets to do some of the job.
The link:...

Re: poly bushings and sway bar endlinks (ScottP1985)

If you're talking about the metal isolator that the bushing is pressed into, I left the parts as one. This is the part that has to be pressed into the hole at the end of the sway bar, right? I used...
