Jochen,
I don't know the exact off-sets, but European off-set specs are different than the US specs. The tires/wheels on a stock set up for a US corvette line up nearly perfect with the outer edge...

I would check for air leaks behind the MAF. Low RPM pinging is IMHO not normal. How does it sound as you drive more aggressively?

I'd bet its either the lifters or fuel injectors...they sound very similar. And if it is the lifters and your not using 5w30 Mobil One or EQ then switch back to the 5w30...10w30 takes a little longer...
