Default 99 Bolt on C-5 LS1 Edit dyno results.

Ill get straight to the numbers.

Before LS1 edit with FLP Long tubes, Blackwing Cold Air and B&B PRT cat back.

333.6 RWHP
337.1 RWTQ

After LS1 edit with above mods plus removed the cats and added a 180 deg thermostat.

343.9 RWHP
356.3 RWTQ

Any questions?

Those are some good gains, comparable to mine!

Last week, I had the following added to my bone stock 2000 C5 Coupe; FLPS w/cats/x-pipe, Blackwing, ASP Pulley, 160 'F T-stat, NGK plugs, Taylor wires, LS1edit tuning from MTI. The results were:

Stock: 304 rwhp/315 rwtq
After : 342 rwhp/352 rwtq

Do you mean removing the CATS AND tuning gave 10HP. I would have expected 10HP just from the CATS, then at least a few more from tuning. Maybe the CATS aren't as restrictive as I thought.

Good torque numbers!

Removing the cats is probalby more like 3 HP.

Where di you tune? Did you use a wide band? What were the A/F numbers before and after?

MTI tuned the car Jason has done so many f-body and vettes that he knows his stuff. I did dyno with just the cats removed. HEre are thoose numbers.

My before and after numbers are about 6 months apart.

On 6-22-02 with air intake temp 92.5 deg it dynoed

332.9 RWHP
333.6 RWTQ

Then today 12-17-02 with air intake temp 72.5 deg w/o cats no other changes from last dyno numbers.

335.6 RWHP
348.0 RWTQ

I gained tourque but i dont know if it was from the cats or air temp. But the car is too loud and i will be putting the cats back on.

You picked up most if not all of the increase from removing the cats! You have a monster C5.

Impala SS Z06, the intake air temp. is ussually compensated to ISA (SAE values 20 Degrees Celsius, Air Pressure 29.92 inches) to get the correct RWHP. That means that the Air temp. can not make a gain in HP regarding the meassured RWHP, so the gains you had are from the removed cats only.

What was your timing before and after CATS removed? As someone else asked, what was your A/F before and after? Seems as though we and I include myself, agree that there is no exact answer to our HP & Torque numbers. Anyone know who has ALL the answers?

David, I think the gains from removing cats and pre-cats on later model C5's are greater than non pre-cat cars.

Cool car, nice numbers. I have a 2000 FRC. I have not had it on the dyno yet, but I ran 12.747 @ 111.11 with non run flats Eagle F1's, Donaldson, B&B PRT cat back, and 172 t-stat about three weeks ago. Since then, I installed an aluminum flywheel / Z06 clutch and FLP headers with cats. I ran last night and the time slips sayed I was only going mid 13's to very high 12's @ 103 to 107 mph. But this car feels so much stronger than before the headers. I hope the timing system was out of wack or something. I will have to dyno / LSI edit tune my car and hope for similar HP and TQ figures as you. What is the next mod that you plan to do?

I used to have a 300zxtt before i got the vette ... now i want a supercharger to get that thrust feel. The pull isnt what i want .. i wish they would come out with a convertible zo6. Then i'll put a super charger in 100%.. what else can i do that will improve real power gain not joke stuff ?

The reason my car dynoed higher than your 2000 is because i have long tube headers.

After my header in stall before tuning in the HOT Texas summer the best MPH i could muster was 108. I think your really rich get the thing tuned!

Get a Dell, study real hard, get a good job and someday you might be driving a vette.
