What's the best way to change/flush auto trans?
I want to change the trans fluid and want to get all the old ATF out.
I've heard of devices that suck the ATF out of the trans. What service stations have these? Jiffy Lube?
Do you have to drop the pan and change the filter, too?

Go to the dealer. I don't normally recommend this, but in the case of the tranny, I used them.

Many quick lube places can do a flush....most dealers only drop the pan and this does not get the TC changed.. I do mine myself by disconecting a cooling line and pumping out 1 gal at a time (be careful...you do NOT want to run dry at all!!!) and pumping in a gal at a time until I have replaced 4 gal total. If you have over 50 k miles drop the pan & put a new filter on as well. I use a pump for lower unit or gear case fluid (little hand pump from any auto parts store.) We race weekly so I change it every 20k miles.

In my opinion use a Good transmission shop. They can flush and get all the fluid from the transmission and also the torque convertor and at the same time change the filter. The last time I had this done, it cost me about $60.00
which incluided filter, gasket and fluid. This is is something that I personally would not do at home in my garage or drive way. I don't think you could get all the fluid out of the TQ convertor without flushing it through one of the lines.

What service interval is recommended by GM? How many miles on your trans fluid? A complete trans flush is the way to go. Most quick lube shops will have the flush machine available. I would not use a quick lube for a filter change. The flush will take about 45 minutes to an hour. Have the filter changed every other time you change the fluid. So, if you change the fluid at 30K, change the fluid and filter at 60K.
Radiator flush should be done the same way, with a complete pressurized flush to assure a 100% swap. Every 5 years or 100K miles. Make sure to use Dexcool...

:iagree: If you can get it done for $60-$70 do it, it is a hassle to do yourself..I'm just weird so I do all service & repairs myself.
I do mine through the lines to insure torque converter flush.
Cheap insurance!!! Heat kills trannies, and regular fluid chages along with a good cooler goes along way toward long life!

Thanks for the replys.
GM states a 100k mi change and 50k mi change for severe service. I'm at 43k on my other car now.
