Granatelli Mass Air Flow Sensor
Is there anything complicated i should know about installing a Granatelli MAF Sensor, or is it just plug and play.

Other than the fact that they are a rip off and do nothing, you just plug it in.
FYI.I have one that was custom calibrated for a additional $125.00 + the $
350.00 i paid for it i will sell it cheap :jester

Re: Granatelli Mass Air Flow Sensor (Shane Ray)
Shane,
My idle is perfect, does not drop as I come to a stop. The reason I purchased the GMS MAF was to richen the mix under WOT. The MAF does its job. I have heard several complaints, but that goes for just about any mod. Some are happy and some are not.
I used to run over sized MAF ends...they led to nothing but problems. Very lean mixture...excessive detonation. Too much air passed the element without detection.
When I switched back to the stock ends and went for a test drive, the idle did just as you described...surged and nearly stalled when coming to a stop. Clearly needed an idle relearn...I put the aftermarket MAF ends back on and ordered the GMS MAF. Been happy ever since. I should still have the PCM tuned to optomize performance. :D

Re: Granatelli Mass Air Flow Sensor (topgun)
Plug and Play! (at least mine was back in '99)
Likewise on my 97. I think many of the bolt ons were designed for the early 345HP LS1's and, may not work as well on the newer, 2000 and up, cars, IMHO.
I did find I had problems with the GMAF and the relocated MAT sensor mod. I removed the MAT and left the GMAF.
Like someone said, to each his own.

i purchased a granatelli MAFS, had for approx. 4-5 months and noticed no changes in idle, HP etc. So I sold it, got my $300.00 back and installed the stock back in but this time i simply removed the MAF screen.

A little more support for my theory that some mods work better on the earlier models that they were orginally designed for.

Remember also that GM put an updated MAF in 2001 and newer cars. I believe the stock unit (01-03 C5) may also be a larger diameter than the Granatelli unit.
I would save the money for something else :flag
My $.02

I'm not running one because I'm programmed, but Granatelli sells 3.5" diameter MAFs for 1997-2000 models and 4" diameter MAFs for 2001-2003.

Might work if that is where the hold up is. Flow is fine with the stock one, need some head work then it warrant a different MAF. If you followed all of these so called mods you would have a thousand hp.....

Re: Granatelli Mass Air Flow Sensor (jimman)
I have never had any luck with aftermarket MAFs and TBs. I run the stock TB MAF and Airbridge and seem to be getting enough air to the Engine. I'm not the fastest, but I can go out and play with most of them :D
