Re: Tires (rsafier)

we need to keep a list of the best tires going right now, basically you'd be happy with any of the below

"killer dry and pretty good rain performance"

Kuhmo MX
michelin sport
bridgestone S03...

Re: cast steel vs forged (TreyZ28)

this isn't really true, z51 stated a few of the reasons on why better parts live longer. i don't really need to re type it. bearings still spin but do you have any idea how much easier and tighter a...

Re: Safety Alert ~ read if you lowered your rear (BANDOBOY)

double jam nut seems to be the easy idea here. grade 8 bolts aren't easy to drill through. even harder is doing it without mangling the threads

Re: cast steel vs forged (CORKVETTE1)

you just answered why the engine blew, it went lean. forged parts take more abuse but you can break anything. detonation and really lean conditions will kill the strongest of parts eventually.

Re: Wheel Alignment (jutammel)

my first thoughts on that are: tires, ball joints, loose suspension parts, shot shocks. the alignments would show signs like, weird tire wear, darty at high speed etc. most C4s have too much negitive...

Re: Doing a top end rebuild to your LT-1? (Darkness)

how much more could GM have done to the bottom end? i'm sure you LT4 guys know the details. GM doesn't use forged pistons in small blocks, the 1&4 have the same crank & rods. so i'm guessing the...

Re: 1990 Corvette Coupe for Sale (aroulette)

try your local auto trader, like someone else said, they generally bring sales quickly. spend the $40, it's worked GREAT on all of my prior cars.

Re: Hooker Aero Mufflers??? any good?? (1994coupe)

the rule of thumb with mufflers is, buy what you like the sound of. there's not much of a performance difference.

Re: cast steel vs forged (CORKVETTE1)

this is somewhat of an odd post, this is also the only reply that makes much sense. maybe it's just late, , vader sounds like he's talking about pistons & no one else has really sited any real...

Re: Looking for a 97-99 (college_guy)

keep saving bro, your kind of stuck. the 90k mile cars sell for 18-20k but you won't get low miles and great condition for bottom dollar prices. think about it, if you owned a mint low mile C5 would...

Re: Would it be against forum rules to keep a list of deadbeat no-pays here? (dragerty)

post count doesn't have much to do with it. it's just a general rule you pay the seller first, then he ships your item. COD's are done if the buyer sends shipping funds first. listing deadbeat...

Re: Which cam do you like (88-406)

that's what i was thinking, my only guess is the guy who said it looked small didn't realize that was a cam number. add a 1.5 or 1.6 rocker and you have some serious tripple spring needing lift.

Re: cast steel vs forged (85vettelovin)

strength and ease of assembly. forged cranks generally have tighter quality control. the polishing is better & the quality is higher. scats 9000 cast steel crank is actually really good for a $200...

Re: Replacement tires in STOCK Z06 sizes (SvenOdin)

the toyo t1s is killer in the wet weather, keep in mind these tires run narrow. a 295/265 combo might look a little odd on z06 wheels. i've used the 295's & they aren't bad at all. kuhmos MX is a...

Re: Does this sound like a good price for a motor? (yoslambo1@cs.com)

it's not a bad deal by any means, see if the guy has main bearing clearance numbers. the iron crank isn't really a strength concern on a 400-450hp engine, it's setting them up that's harder than the...

Re: C4 sub install questions..... (Bans25)

pulled the factory doors & plastic. used 1/2" mdf for a baseboard & layed it down in the back. you can see another pannel built in to access the ABS. the sub part was sealed up with spray foam as...

Re: which shocks for a 95 (Gar)

best bang for the buck in my oppinion are the koni sports. http://www.shox.com is a dealer. much better control than the stockers and the price is reasonable.
