Default Re: Which cam do you like (Help)

I'm looking for opinions regarding camshaft selection. The engine is a 10.1:1,383, 6"rod,MiniRam,AFR 210,Aluminum Flywheel,6spd,3.73 rear.

Cam #1

Solid Roller
.390/.404 lobe lift
244/252 @ .050
277/285 advertised duration
108 CL
112 LSA

Cam #2

Solid Roller
.392/.393 lobe lift
250/260 @ .050
286/296 advertised duration
112 CL
112 LSA

These are the two I own but I've never run either before. Which one do you guys like and why? I'll be installing one and selling the other next weekend.

Thanks

KM

Either one looks like way toooooo much cam for the street.
Those cams wouldn't like me. I like nice manners on the street.
Can you get a milder choice?

just my opinion, both look like they have too much duration and too little lift. Why solid? I guess you don't mind pulling the valve covers off every now and again for adjustments?

both cams look on the large side the second cam should idle better with the wider lobe ctr but it has more durration dont know that i like either one maybe sell them both ang get one with less duration and 100 more lift at a 112 lobe ctr :D

Wow, I'm kinda surprised you think there too big

AS84

How much lift do you recomend? I don't think I can clear much more than .650 most street cams are way less than that. These two seem to push it up near .620-.640 with a 1.6 rocker. I'm going with a solid because I get into valve float before I get to my HP peak. I need to be able to shift around 7000RPM. I just haven't been able to get a HYD to work well up there. As for adjusting the lash, I geuss it comes with the turf.

Are you serious about the lift? Those are lobe lift numbers. .390X1.5 or 1.6 rocker ratio= 585/620. Are you lifting 700ish

that's what i was thinking, my only guess is the guy who said it looked small didn't realize that was a cam number. add a 1.5 or 1.6 rocker and you have some serious tripple spring needing lift.
