On a base C6 the battery is still under the hood on the right hand side. That side is lighter than the left due to the driver's weight but it's not the same as the GS/Z06 where GM put the battery in...

Keep in mind that the 2005 has basically a C5 trans with a unique diff. You can't just bolt up a 2006+ trans to the '05 diff or a 2006+ diff to the 2005 trans. You can, however, bolt in a C5 diff....
