Re: Questions about the K&N filter! (Scott-2002-Z06)

The answer is no and no. There was one person on this board who did a before and after dyno and he gained absolutely nothing from the K&N filter.

Re: Bye You Guys-I Bought A Viper (ZO6)

Did you buy the Z06 from Champion Chevrolet? I too would like to know what the problem was. Did GM buy your car back? If not I'd imagine you lost a ton of money.

Re: Z06 - whining noise at full throttle (LymanSS)

I think the noise you guys are talking about could be the fuel pump. I only notice it in 6th gear on the freeway when I depress the throttle. In all other gears the engine is too noisy for me to...

Re: New Z06 owner: A question for you Vette vets (Scott-2002-Z06)

Scott, actually the skip shift only activates between 15 and 19 mph under light throttle. So if you don't want to rev above 2500 rpm which is about 19 mph in 1st, just shift before you reach 15 mph....

Re: Z06 15K miles service (agentf1)

So what are they gonna do, take the car away from you? Is it a leased car? Changing the tranny and differential fluids is probably a good idea at this stage. The air filter should be changed more...

Re: New Z06 owner: A question for you Vette vets (Scott-2002-Z06)

No you don't have to shift from 1st to 4th even if you don't uninstall the skip shift. Like someone else said, just rev the car in 1st beyond 2500 rpm or the other way is to wait a second or so with...

Re: K & N-Be Carefull To Oil and Use Gasket (ZO6)

You're right about that. However, the new filter comes pre-oiled so there's no need to worry about dry spots until you clean the filter and reapply the oil. There's another problem with K&N filters...

Re: interested in saving 14% on your ZO6 fuel costs? (gasboy)

That's exactly why I told my dealer not to fill up my car. By the way, how did you confirm your dealer put in regular gas?

Re: Why the ZO6 will stomp a Ferrari 360 (kwillmorth)

Just curious, what tire radius did you use in your acceleration calculations? The 18 in the tire rating is rim diameter in inches if I'm not mistaken, not the tire radius. But as long as you used...

Re: Never saw this before (mmorse)

I've had it happened probably twice. Nothing to worry about. Check the owner's manual for more info.

Re: Stupid Climate Control 'feature' (rbartick)

rbartick, I too find this "feature" rather annoying, but I've learned to live with it. In my opinion it's a bad design and GM should've made the climate control such that it remembers all of your...

Re: What does a Z06 dyno? (BLU-BY-U)

BLU-BY-U, that's awesome. Your time is also 1 full second less than Road & Track's.

Re: What your Oil Temperature under normal driving.. (Afy)

It depends on the type of driving and air temperature. So far I've used my car in fairly cool weather and a few times the oil temp went as high as 215-220 in stop and go traffic, but on the freeway...

Re: Strart up Oil Pressure (Born_Again)

How slowly does it rise? It's not supposed to instantly jump to 45 psi or so if that's what you're asking. Usually it takes a few seconds.

Re: When I get my next vette it will... (Stingray1967)

Already have the best Vette, a 2002 Z06, and don't plan on getting another one. However, I might install one of them superchargers when I start feeling like my car is too weak. ;)

Re: interested in saving 14% on your ZO6 fuel costs? (ruking1)

If I were interested in saving money on gas I would rather not drive the Z06 at all than put crappy gas in it. 91 octane is enough punishment for the car. I just don't understand why you want...

Re: 02' Z06 vs. 02' RT/10 Viper????? (Ryan Bell)

I agree with Ryan about eliminating as much of the driver error as possible by doing from-a-roll races. However doing it from 70 mph is too high and only tests the top end. How about from a 5 mph...

Re: 2003's.....FACT!!!! 425HP!! (50thZO6)

No big surprise here either. There's no way I'll take a $10K hit or so just to get 20 extra hp which I doubt will be noticable.

Re: Latest R&T 02 Z06 test (Wicked LT1)

I don't think they did this test at a high altitude, otherwise the times for the other two cars would be slower. I agree with you, the numbers look like a high-altitude Z06 run, or a sea-level coupe...

Re: Anyone experience a rattle or jingling noise coming from underneath??? (Frank'n'Austin)

I'm not sure I have the sound you described. Maybe you just hear exhaust resonation which is normal. But if it's a loud rattling noise, something's probably loose and needs to be tightened.

Re: Stupid Questions (Born_Again)

2. My guess is that it is 80 divided by the number of boxes.

3. Mine comes on as soon as the hood reaches the fully open position. Check your fuses.

Latest R&T 02 Z06 test

13.1 @ 111!! Curiously they tested the car against the non-turbo Carrera and NSX both of which ran 13.4 I think which is pretty decent for them. But the Z06 result is even worse than that...

Re: Why do some Z06 owners have such an elitist attitude? (3.8TurboWhat?)

I know what you're saying. I have an 88 Honda Accord as my other car which I take to work at least twice a week. It's a big contrast to my Z06 and it allows me to blend back into the general...

Re: Anybody just running stock filter? (2K2Z06)

That's a good point. I'd rather have my engine breathe totally clean air than risk contamination for a few extra hp. I have the stock filter in my Z06 but I tried a K&N on my Firebird which I used...
