It depends on the type of driving and air temperature. So far I've used my car in fairly cool weather and a few times the oil temp went as high as 215-220 in stop and go traffic, but on the freeway it usually doesn't go over 210. Yours seems a bit higher, but I think it's fine.

Power equals heat! The LS6 makes more power, so will produce somewhat higher oil temps than the C5's LS1.

Check out the data sheet on Mobile 1:

http://dallnd6.dal.mobil.com/GIS/Mob...7?OpenDocument

The stuff is safe to 400 degrees F, with a flash point of 455. It's normal to see oil temps in high performance engines run in the 250 to 275 range under hard driving. It's generally recommended not to let temps exceed 300 degrees for long periods of time. However, the oil is not going to physically break down untill it exceeds 400.

No worries at all with temps of 210 to 235 while just cruising around.

:) 200 to 215 cruising :)

:D Up to 285 high speed tracks :D

;) Transmission over heat will light up before oil temp. goes WACKO ;)

http://www.bragg-smith.com cars run 300 plus degree oil temps all day long, day after day without any motor problems
If you need a higher flash point oil than Mobil 1. http://www.redlineoil.com will provide higher flash point for your motor oil.
