Re: What is that groaning noise.... (1978shark)

I chased a similar sound in my 1978 a while ago, and it turned out to be a rear wheel bearing starting to go.

Re: What's the safest method to receive payment if I ever sell my vette? (Hooked on Vettes)

Wire transfer. I just accepted payment for my car this past Friday with one. Flawless and the money is right there, no questions.

Re: New weather stripping installed. Still leaking badly NEED SOME ADVISE! (Twin_Turbo)

IMHO, if you changed the weatherstripping and it's now WORSE, then I'd bet it's probably the weatherstripping. It's a real PIA to get a perfect fit, especially where the door closes in the back, if...

Re: Synthetic Brake Fluid & Flushing? (PatG)

As far as flushing the open lines, I had good luck using nylon tubing and a large syringe. Just be careful and don't drip anything on your paint.

Re: Found a 1968, need some advice (rrshepard)

That's a little high for a NOM steel bumper car, granted it is a 4-speed convert. I'd suggest $15K if it's in great shape and runs well.

Re: 78 s/a what is it worth (cvette1)

I had a 1978 SA with original paint about a 6 and interior an 8 on your scale. numbers match, etc etc with a great Clarion CD player system, good tires, and strong L48.

It had been on the market...

Re: Time for a beer.... I stuck the freakin hood closed! (SnoDrgn)

When I took my car for the state inspection, the mechanics (I use the term loosely) did me the favor of breaking the hood cable that connects driver to passenger side. yeah, we tried the "access"...

Re: Gas Tank replacement.. (GrandSportC3)

I am also interested if there are aftermarket C3 gas tanks that aren't steel, but rather plastic like the newer OEM tanks.

Re: O/T-Home Furnace Fuel Oil Tanks (pws69)

No, cleanup endpoints are risk-based, and the EPA really has nothing to do with enforcing home heating oil tanks, they have bigger fish to fry. There are many oil spills I've worked on that don't...

Re: O/T-Home Furnace Fuel Oil Tanks (mrvette)

I work for an engineering company that is primarily environmental, and I have managed too many UST removals.

A buried home heating oil tank is a liability. Just get it removed. You need to check...

Re: What does a 7-leaf rear spring mean? (1LE)

I am wondering about this, because the owner's manual hints at a "performance package" that was available, and I know that my rear end is not 3.08, due to higher revs at highway speeds. I'm curious...

What does a 7-leaf rear spring mean?

I remember that the rear spring on my 1978 had 9 leaves, and I was under the 1972 the other day, and finally noticed that it has only 7 leaves.

Is this just a difference in the manufacturing...

Re: I think I made a big mistake removing the distributor. (GaryS)

I could completely have my head up my rectum, but I dont think it matters. As long as you're at TDC, you can install the distributor any way you want, then turn the base until electric contact is...

Re: Anybody have luck selling their car on Ebay before? (thejaf)

Thanks for the replies. I have been watching Ebay prices for a while, and all I see is "reserve not met" Looks like a bunch of wishers both on the buying and selling side.

Re: OK, The hardest thing to do is "?" on a vette. (Silvr77)

Heater core with AC wasn't bad, but removing some of the interior bolts is a royal PIA - like that one in the center of the parking brake console only accessed from the jack compartment. And those...
