my 69 does not have an o ring and yes a new tube can be stubborn , i slide a wrench 3/8" i think over the tube with the wrench on the raised part of the tube tap on the wrench it should slide on in...

i would work on the steering first. my 69 has assist steering , manual brakes. i don't think power brakes will be necessary if the manual system is working properly.

you are going to need new push rods. comp makes an adjustable one to set the geometry of the valve train. it has to be perfect.

correct me if i'm wrong but i thought 69 LT-1 came with 186 heads while 70-71 LT-1 had x heads. if your looking for x heads i have part#973487x fresh from the machine shop new springs , new valves...

exhaust valve is the one above the exhaust port in the head. adjust them both. be sure they are both closed while adjusting.

not sure about 74 but i installed 70 seats in my 69 till i can afford to have 69 seats redone. used the rails off the 69 seats bolted right up to the seats.

first check all connections , tight and clean , fully charge batt , remove neg cable and connect a test light between cable and post light should be on then one by one start pulling fuses if light...
