Re: Shift point? (BookSmart)

I don't know if it is different on an 89, but mine shifts at ~5200 when at WOT. Had this car since it was new, so it has not had any aftermarket items added.

Perhaps the trans cable is out of...

Re: stuck in park ! (David Mark)

David Mark, Have you tried to adjust the trans cable? If it is not set correctly, it will not select the proper gear. In my case, the nut going to the spline on the shifter was way loose.

Question about posts...

Thanks for the input. I really appreciate the vast amount of knowledge that is here on the board.

Again, I apologize if I insulted or offended anyone. That was not my intention.

Re: Falken Tires (Bill-35thAnvrsy-88)

Hi Bill, I have the same tires. For the price, it is a really good value. However, I don't race my car either. Just the daily driver thing.

Re: Battery Drain from Stock Tape DRive on 86 Vert, Help Please? (Bogey)

I still have my stock head unit from my 89. Is your system Bose or non-Bose? I will let it go cheap.

Re: A/C Fuse Keeps Going Out (mjfox)

Compressor and clutch are less than six months old. Could it be anything else? I'm not too worried since the unit has a lifetime warrenty.

A/C Fuse Keeps Going Out

Hi All,
Just today, I had the A/C fuse blow out on the car. The fan blows fine even with the blown fuse. I replaced it with the correct fuse and within five minutes, it blew again!

If anyone...

Re: Rear Speakers (Dokken)

Not really looking for "boom", I have a sub for that. However, when I remove the sub (to put the top down), the resulting bass is not what should be expected from 6x9's. Even the tiny Bose speakers...

Rear Speakers

Hi All,
When stock, I had the Bose system. Since then, I have replaced the head unit, speakers and added an amp. My problem is that there is practically no bass from the rear 6x9's. I checked...

Re: a/c help (Steve87VETTE)

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Check the small vacuum hoses in the engine compartment. Most likely, one may have come loose or have a pinhole in it.

Re: timing chain a tooth off? (konroh)

Konroh, I've seen/had this happen before. There is a good possibility that you are off by one tooth on the timing gear. Your symptoms seem to indicate that. Of course, there may be other opinions...

Re: Alternator going south?.. (H P Bushrod)

Mine would make noice while running. You can check by pulling the connector (not the power wire!) and see if it get quieter. If so, maybe time for another one.

Re: Shocks question (dbwade36)

If you really have the itch to upgrade to KYB's, it only runs about $140 for the entire set. Of course, that is just for the shocks (not installation).

Re: What kinda p/s fluid to use? (jackdaroofer)

Ok then, jackdaroofer. What do you use for your p/s fluid? As for me, I use the synthetic p/s stuff. I would never put the syn p/s fluid in my tranny. Would you?

Re: Where should I be shifting at? (daddydahlin)

Let the trans do its job. If properly setup, it controls the shifts far better than manually shifting it. Problems can occur if the TV cable is not adjusted correctly.

Re: What RPM should my 91 L98 Automatic shift at? (blk91)

When driving around town, it is normal for the car to shift fairly early (for economy reasons). You only have an issue if the car will not shift between 4700-5000 at full-throttle.

Re: What kinda p/s fluid to use? (MagikDraggin)

In the old days, you could interchange p/s fluid and trans fluid. In today's cars, it does not work that way. Only use the proper p/s fluid for your car.

Re: A/C air flow (Tcape)

Hi Tom, it sounds like one (or more) of those tiny vacuum tube(s) came loose or has a crack in it. That would be the cause of your problem. Trust me, I have had it happen all to often over various...
