Thanks guys. Problem is...these carbs are on a '85 vMax and I doubt napa has floats for them. Yamaha has them for 30 bucks a pop...120$... and I'm afraid the alcohol is what's ruining them.

I will guess you have some valve seal leakage and too rich carb. With the alcohol in our fuel I am not sure plug readings are like they used...

Well, it wasn't my photo and I have no idea who's brand of piston but it appears there was only a 1/64 maximum of material thickness which would be very weak, even on a forged piston.
