Wanted to wrap up my post here. Got the car back today, transmission replaced. They did mention when I picked up that it was the porosity issue, not cracked. Now to drive it!!!

I put yes for mine, with the qualifier that GM can't actually source a new transmission it seems, so it's needing to be replaced, but they haven't actually done it.

Don't need one, so didn't ask. GM escalation asked if I needed one, but rather not deal with one...assuming they wouldn't be offering me a c8, haha.

Good luck. Been waiting 3 weeks on a new transmission for mine, still no ETA even from GM on the part, let alone an actual fixed car. Unfortunately looking like a Lemon Law claim is in my future.

Well, got the call from dealer. The transmission case is cracked, causing the leak. They told me the transmission oil won't eat the paint, luckily, as the rear bumper was covered in an oil mist....

I think it's fairly random. Some have seen as little as a 5-day gap to others that have waited over a month. No way to know until it gets to 4200 (shipped) status.

As long as you do not touch the paddle shifters, yes, you can put it in S and not have to shift manually. And yes, it's supposed to shift more aggressive as I understand it in S rather than D.
