If closing, stop where the first bucket is closed. Stop. Now if you open, does it stick? Or only sticks if held while the other closes?

Rebuilding motors and gearsets is a good thing. You can adjust the tension on the armature to get the motors synced on the bench. Overlooked by many is the pivot bearings of the light housings...
