I thought 165 was at the rear wheels?? Starting in 72 or 73 was when they went to a rear wheel rating, I thought. My 78 was rated at 180, I did not realize the 75's were rated at a lower number.

There should be a bolt on the front of the block that will hold it up in there so you can install the pump with out it falling out. If the bolt is not holding it up you probably have a roller cam...
