mine is the same way only opposite sides. I have seen other members post this same question.. Mine runs fine, handles fine, no weird tire wear or dog-tracking.

In the Grundy (in-line) insurance application they ask if you run errands with the car. If you run errands you don't get their coverage.

Until I look further, I believe the shroud is the problem. It had been repaired before by previous owner. I don't believe it's sitting the way it should be.

Somehow it was damaged (broken section)...

I lost one a year ago (original cap too!) and now I am replacing them with the plastic repro's and putting the originals away.

Trying swap meets for replacement. New is about $80.00

Thanks for the responses...will check it tonight. Should be able to see marks if it is the fan hitting.

Pretty sure it's not due to brakes or fuel but the fan comment from Jerryp58
is a possibility. Damn it's tough tracing a noise!!

It seems to be more than a "ping"... as I mentioned, it's only from a dead stop it happens. If I am rolling even just a tad, it accelerates just fine, no pings, rattles, etc........

Only when accelerating , in gear. Engine sounds just fine "All" other time.

Getting a nasty sounding rattling effect when I accelerate hard from a dead stop. If I'm moving and accelerate hard everything sounds fine.

It sounds like it may (?) be from the engine but...

You have an idle stop solenoid on the car? If so, you may have done something, loose connection or ????. If it kept running after turn off it may be the solenoid isn't releasing like it's supposed...

Last time I used the stuff, I poured the leftover into a 1 quart canning jar
and used the canning lids. Stuff lasted a long time, didn't dry up in storage.

Should you end up storing it outside, it helps to put some type of moisture barrier "Under" the car. Drive on it. This will keep ground moisture off the underside.
