You can check the MAF Sensor

When the symptoms occur, quickly raise the hood and unplug the MAF sensor....if the idle problem goes away, that's the problem...
DO NOT drive it with the MAF sensor unplugged.....

Tried cleaning the old one times three....swapping with the driver's door handle fixes the problem...what is the best online source for this part?

It is the left side sensor that usually fails.... make sure you get the newest version, as there are a lot of 'old' ones which are prone to failure out there in the supply chain.... lots of posts on...

I would be very strong with the dealer for such an expensive repair that yielded no results.... most Fob problems have to do with the battery in the Fob or position of the Fob.... clean the door...
