I found a used one form $20. It looks to be a pretty important boot, since it looks like it helps guide the rod that gets pushed from the slave.

Where's a good place to buy the kits? I've called...

Wierd series of events on my '86 coupe.... one of the horns wouldn't work, so I twisted the little screw on the back and that "freed up" whatever was frozen in there. Being a little proavtive, I...

To test the EGR on my '86, I used a vacuum gauge (Mighty Vac $35??). The EGR held vacuum, but the plastic hoses from the EGR's rubber connecting hose needed to be replaced. That plastic hosing is...

Great - I'll check the TPS. I had that set prior to going into Chevy to get some things looked at and they replaced the ECM for me. They also cleaned the TB, so maybe they didn't check the TPS...

Getting Code 43 - Knock Sensor

What the heck is this thing really doing? Sensing for "knocking" and sending a signal to the ECM to retard the timing, right? There's a procedure in the ECM to test the knock sensor at "strt-up"...

Lap Belt locks up and won't unlock...

I'll be racing around and in a small g turn and hit some bumps and the lap belt locks up and won't unlock unless I unlatch and retract the whole shoulder/lap set up.

Is this normal?

Re: 4+3 OD Button non functioning any more (Curveit)

Shoot - that's an easy one. It's on the firewall, next to the master cylinder vacuum booster. There's 2 relays there, one behind the other. The first one you can get to is the OD relay and the one...

Re: 4+3 OD Button non functioning any more (BlkMagik)

This is probably an easy one, if it's like the problem I had with my OD button on my '86. And if not like mine, the guys have another fix I'll mention.

My OD button would work depending on where...

Re: Cruise Control Troubleshooting (graddium)

When my cruise went out on my '86, it was the vacuum lines that attach at the servo (near the firewall). The lines became old and cracked. There was enough slack available that I just cut off the...

Re: Cooling / Radiator Fan Comes on at Start up? (86VetteBill)

Well, here's an interesting update. I was checking some voltage/resistance at the ECM looking for the resistance on the Coolant Sensor and I have the digital volt meter set at 20K ohms. I see 8...

Re: Cooling / Radiator Fan Comes on at Start up? (SunCr)

I've had the diagrams out for the OD relay and found quite a few connections to pink/blk #39. It hits the OD relay (terminals C&E), Air Sw Solenoid, EGR Control Solenoid, and the Air Control...

Re: Canister Purge Vacuum Valve? (SunCr)

Oh - I didn't think of the canister being saturated. What should I so - just pour out the accumulated liquid? Let it air dry? Is it easy to open?

Re: Code 36 at 70 MPH (JScott 88 C4)

I had an issue with this too. I swapped the 2 relays with each other and got a different code. I replace the bad one. Seems these are interchangeable on my '86.

Re: Cooling / Radiator Fan Comes on at Start up? (86VetteBill)

I'm approaching this problem from 2 fronts: Is the OD relay forcing the fan on or is the fan forcing the OD off.

I've cleaned up the wiring to the OD relay. Boy - those wires really get pulled...

Re: Cooling / Radiator Fan Comes on at Start up? (SunCr)

Well, the fan control switch wasn't the problem. Glad I didn't have to replace that!! So, I'll get into the 4+3 OD wiring and switches to see, like you say, if they share a ground. Thanks for the...
