Re: Cragar SS C1? (aupaul)

When I first put the Cragar wheels on, I had 225 tyres on the rear...they rubbed. Worked my way down to 205s and there was no problem.
Bill.

Re: Cragar SS C1? (aupaul)

I had 15 x 7s on my 62. They didn't stick out from under the fenders. Have a look at http://www.artandcolour.com.au/corvette for some pics.

Re: New zz 383 vs zz4 (newbe60)

I had a 383 in my 62. 412hp and 460lb/ft. The car handles that power ok. Of course, *I* did not handle the power all that well.

Re: I've had a gutfull of this early Vette! (59er)

Mark,
Although it doesnt sound like much of a consolation right now...at least you've still GOT a classic Vette. Hows about leaving your car in my garage for a while (till the dark cloud passes)...

Re: 62 Body Lift! (59er)

6 skinny guys should be enough to lift the body. I also had one guy push the rolling chassis out from under the car - easier to do that than have 4 (or 6) guys try to shuffle along while holding a...

Re: 62 Body Lift! (59er)

Mark,
When I took the body off my car there was 4 guys, one at each wheel. No problem. But they were 4 pretty burly blokes.
Do I know the 62 that is getting done?

Re: Aussie Forum get together? (RHD '68 L89)

Organise a trip up to sunny Queensland. I'll get the BBQ warmed up, and fill the fridge with whatever ale's ya.
Perfect Vette weather up here, all year round.

Re: best looking color on a 62? (BillDixon)

Then again, fawn on red DOES scream "look at me". But, doesnt driving ANY old Vette scream "look at me!!!" ???
Another option is ALMOND beige...nice sedate, rare color. Almond on red is classy.

Re: I need a shoulder to cry on....I just sold my car (Kid_Again)

I think I read somewhere that one of the engineers on the C5 (or C4?) said that the new C5 is a Corvette, only "more so". Yeah, it drives better, handles better, gets better fuel economy, has air,...

Re: I need a shoulder to cry on....I just sold my car (JL66REDCPE)

JL66REDCPE,
A used C5 just does not float my boat like the "older" Vettes. Yes, a C5 is just as much a Corvette as a C1 or C2, but my heart is with the old cars.

I need a shoulder to cry on....I just sold my car

Strange day, yesterday. I was invited by the local Corvette Club to bring my car along to display with the club in the annual "Hot Rod and Street Machine Show" here in Brisbane. Being the 50th...

Re: Who goes the 1/4 mile in there C1 & C2 ? (StrayDog)

I go to the 1/4 mile as often as I can. Best is 12.7 at 112mph. In street trim.

Re: How much weekend racing can a C1 take? (INMYBLOOD)

Inmyblood,

Your thoughts arent crazy. I got hooked on the drags back when my old 350 engine would only get 14 second ETs. Now with 3.55 posi and the new 383, my best is a 12.7 pass. I dont...

Re: Poll on Corvette shows..... (achapman)

I went to a corvette show last weekend. Sans car.
It was a very hot day, and I had my 18 month old son, so we took my wifes air conditioned sedan (with baby seat) to check out the car show. I had...

Re: Comeback sayings...... (kenmo)

To be honest, I dont think I've ever had anyone rag me because my car is so old. Maybe because of the rarity of Corvettes down under, let alone the OLD Vettes. Newer cars might handle better, and...

Re: To Drive or Show, I'm P'd off (59er)

Mark, I get it too.
"Gee, you've got a scratch/crack/smudge/grease-spot there" and "Why'd you spend all that time and money on the car and put THOSE wheels on it" and "Thats the wrong alternator" ...

Re: Raced the 61 last weekend (K2)

I've been to a couple of locally run autocrosses. It's HARD work. Good fun, but up against C4's, the old C1s just dont handle all that great.

Re: Question, does anyone take there C1 or C2 to the drags ? (StrayDog)

I used to go to the drags quite often, before fatherhood became a priority. First time I ran my car (before engine mods) I ran a 14.5 at about 85 mph, and I thought that was pretty neat. I've ran...

Re: Where to mount electric fuel pump in C1 (kenmo)
