Another cam that would work is the Isky 264 mega cam.....264 264 214 214 @ 050 .450 .450 lift 108 lsa. Works with all stock valve train.

Agree with keeping the stock fuel pump in the tank! There are some 6 psi intank pumps available. On my carbed 84 Z51 I am using the Mallory 4309 regulator and works just fine.

I removed the converter on my 84 and had a custom system built. Do not recall any problems with the xfire set up. Engine temp went down a little!

You could also buy a few motorcycle baffles and slip them in your exhaust pipes. Easy to install and usually only require drilling one hole to mount them. About $15 per baffle last time I checked.

I have them on my carbed 84 C4. Much better than the 624s and are around $1200. Made by Dart. 624 heads not worth rebuilding!

I use a Mallory 4309(I think) on my carbed 84. Some other company may have purchased Mallory so not sure who makes it now. Beware of china built knock offs!!

Not sure what heads your 87 came with but you might be able to get a new set of performance aftermarket heads like Darts for a good price. Check and see what Summit has to offer.

If your 84 is not a z51 then change your rear gear ratio to at least the 3.07 gear. Have you done any exhaust mods yet? Those 2 items will make a big difference.
