I was going to but...

The rain congealed into some sort of weird white stuff and stuck to everything.

The other problem is that when I go outside for any length of time my hands go numb and I start shaking...

What manifold are you running?

I just put an 1806 on my Edelbrock Performer 2101 and it was a distinct improvement over my old Q-jet.
I think I am going to install a Performer Air-gap to help keep the fuel charge cooler.

1. Drive it

It works fine for me...

My 350 /290 with an Edelbrock 1806 starts, idles and runs fine with the vacuum advance line hooked up to full vacuum.
