Ours in Calif is bi-annual.....we use to have a rolling 30 year exemption,but the state dropped that just before my 78 would have been exempt...now,any car from 1976 and newer must smog forever......

I'm running a Dewitts in my 78 and it is first rate...been in about 3 years now..in my 69 502 I'm using a 4 row copper brass and it has been in since 1999 or so and does a real good job.

Check your thermostat...I'd start vette cold,then watch temp gauge as engine warms up,..temp should peak,then drop as thermostat opens.
Another possibility is lower tube clogging in your...

The 64 vette had a 1" hole in the oil sump as a result of the crash...then he drove back to the pits and the sump was empty...not clear if any oil was still in the lines or not...
