Default Good tire for 96

Just perchased a 96 convt. Want to get rid of the EMT cement tires.
Looking for the quietest, softest riding tire possible but will have to stay with the ZR rating performance. Any experience with tires you like?

Thanks,

Bill

If you want soft, and quiet go Michelins. They do not have the greatest grip, but they are very quiet compared to Good Years, Nitto, BFG, Kuhmo, and Hankook.

Tires are like oil and wax, everyone has their favorites.
They all have their pros and cons.

I have a '96 LT4 Vert with Defender ZR's--- they ride and handle beautifully and are very quiet---have about 2700 miles on them and they look brand new. Don't take her out in the rain so I can't really comment on wet weather traction etc. I have the spare tire delete so I might be interested in your EMT's---what brand are they--do you have any idea how many miles on them or how old they are? Hope this helps--Good luck!!

Thanks for the info LTFORC4. What brand are the Defenders? Also, regarding the miles
on my EMT's, I do not know since I just purchased the car. However, they look very
new. I can send pictures if you are interested and can make you a very good deal.
I am from northwest Ohio, so relatively close.

Thanks

I've always had Goodyears, but went with Michelin Pilot Sports this time. Seems to ride much smoother and quieter. Handling seems better too but that may be partly because I also installed new Bilsteins at the same time. Anyhow, I'd buy these again.

No comparison; had all sorts of tires in the past.....these are the best I have had.....pricier, but like alot of things....you get what you pay for

That's not bad for those tires.....Costco usually has a great deal......my dad had them (Michelins P/S) installed several years back at Costco on his 02 Black/Black/Black convertible....they also installed the tires on some new wheels he ordered through Mid America at the time....I was a little apprehensive at first with Costco doing the install on his low mileage black vert, but they did a great job......I guess it's been 7 years now and everything is fine

Yep. Costco has the best prices anywhere on the Pilot Sports - they run those $70 off specials about four times a year - and they do a great job of installing them. Know all about low tire pressure warning sensors and dont rip them off (unless you want 'em to). Inflate them with nitrogen, free road hazard warranty & lifetime free rotations. Wouldn't buy tires anyplace else !

The tire sizes are
Front 255-45ZR17
Rear 285-40ZR17
They are Goodyear, but I don't have pictures yet. I'll have to figure out how to post them.
As accurate as I can measure, tread depth is 3/16" on all of them and the wear looks to
be even.

Don't worry about the pics----maybe as soon as the weather breaks we can meet at a 1/2 way point (just looking for an excuse to get the cover off and go for a drive) and check 'em out----perhaps do a trade??? Thanks!!!
