Default Rear tire suggestions for Sawblades?

Any suggestions for brands or sizes other than stock for rear Sawblades?

Guessing you have a 17 X 9.5....

275 / 40 / 17 or

285 / 40 / 17

And Michelin Pilot Sports. Michelins are what Corvette Racing is now using. Given up on Goodyears which they see as an inferior tire. About time.

don't even know why you asked because this is one subject no on ever agree's on or ever will agree on; but for a street driven car, after more than a little research I chose what I consider a very good bang for the buck:

Kumho Ecsta ASX, 285/40ZR17, all season extreme / light snow okay; Z rated (above 149 miles per hour) UTOG 420AAA, $143 ea when I bought mine.

very similiar ratings as the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, but at half the price.

I hear good things about the Nitto 555's. I have Goodyears on mine right now, I hope to switch over to the Nittos. Oh, NEVER buy Kuhmo runflats. My grandfather has them on his C5. They are perhaps the worst tires I have ever experienced. Almost literally no traction on cold, wet surfaces.

For size get 285/40/17. As far as what tire to get that entirely depends on your budget. Michelin Pilot Sports are probably the best tires you can get. If your looking for something cheaper though get the Nitto 555's. That's what I run and have been very satisfied. DO NOT get the drag radial version though. They are great fun and really sticky but then you reach the end of the block and find you already have no tread left.

I agree. The kumho ecsta asx's are great tires..But I think they have been discontinued al least on tire rack..They used to be listed under ultra high performance all season..Now all I can find are the Kumho Ecsta SPT ultra high performance SUMMER tire. Anyone know where you can still get the ASX's

I just bought hankooks last week. The ones on the rear I bought 2 years ago. Plenty of traction about $149 at discount.

Continental DWS Extreme Contact Tires (if you live in a climate that gets cold and you still drive the car)

I just had them save my bacon last night during a monsoon level rain storm.
I Wound up fording a bridge with my airdam. The tires sucked right through the water and stayed on the pavement.

I had no idea the water was even really there since it was 11pm on an unlit street, until I heard it hitting my air dam at 35 mph. It was like the sound the air dam makes when it bumps up over a curb. Scared the hell out of me.

I'm going to be putting continental DW Extreme Contact on for my Summer Performance rubber on the other rims now.
