1980 headlight switch replacement

I was able to get the old switch to finally release the shaft and pulled off the electrical connection and removed the switch. What is the trick to get this installed.? I can get my hand back up...

OK, so if I move the distr by one tooth CCW, how much should the rotor physically move/turn? When I did this several times it turned the rotor about 3/4". Is this correct or should it be less?
