I just checked my 65 696 alternator. It has a number 5 in that same front spot. No idea here on its significance. It's an older Pirkle restored piece.

The Ruskies still make tubes.
Truly good guitar amps still use tubes.
Prices vary widely. Some of the more rare tubes can be $$$!

After I reset the dwell to 30*, I went through the timing. Have it at 36* advanced all-in, less the vacuum advance. If I'm remembering right, it was at 50* with the vacuum can connected.

I never fully closed them, just twisted them in until I got the expected response, then returned them to give max vacuum.
Didn't see any reason to fully close them, as they acted normal.

I checked the idle mix screws on mine. Running them in, the motor responded as it should, vacuum dropped and idle slowed.
Was wondering about the power valve as well...

I use an Accugage. Have for 20+ years. They guarantee the accuracy. It holds the reading and has a reset button/bleeder valve so you can over-inflate your tires and bleed them down to your target...
