Starter was bad. It was brand-new, turns out it needed to be replaced. I had rebuilt the original so I put that in and took about the "new" one.

Fired RIGHT up.

No nothing when turning the key

Just changed the starter out and when I turn the key nothing happens at all. This was happening before I changed the starter, but it was intermittent, I would do the old fix of hitting the starter...

Thanks... all good points, but the car is completely stock and I just put the stock radio back in it a few months ago. The battery is new, in-fact I got a dry cell battery for it 7 months ago.

It's the original lacquer paint with a 1 time 5 mph paint job on top (acrylic, no clear-coat) and that is at least 15 years old.

Good point, yes, maybe it was not a complete gallon. It's warm here and it was a hot day on the day it leaked. But it's cooler now (in the 60's).

1977 with Tilt and Telescoping column.

The switch functioned as High Beams, turn signal and Wiper control.

Is this enough information?
