I think thats because of the weight of the engine "falling" while backing out compressing the suspension down slightly. Going forwards the weight is at normal height and thats probably just enough.

You should be ok as long as you don't come straight in. Angle it up the incline. I've had mine inside parking garages with decent inclines and I'm lowered on coilovers.
