Sounds like 700r4 is out of adjustment . it must be exact or will drive like that and destroy a new 700r in a few miles . read up on it in c4 section as 700r4 used in that generation at very least it...

Few years ago I had a shop weld a hitch to the frame on my 76 , towed several cars and a 18 ft boat. Rear ended by a honda, it (the honda) had to be towed , no damage to vette !
