This is just a WAG but I'd guess maybe an appropriately sized hairpin clip or e-ring clip might be called for.
Caveat: I've never been inside a mid-year Corvette radio.

If the carb has the pipe plug in the rear base of the carb, you could use the vac fitting that Paragon 755 (Now CC) sells. I used that on my 60 with 2 x 4's to get vac from the rear carb. Tight fit...

Did not have any problems with...
