I converted my 69's mechanical gauge to electric and installed a new sending unit similar to your pic. If my memory serves me right, the gauge would peg. Tried another new sender and it worked....

Thanks Paul. It's definitely a journey and not a race. I tend to get distracted with other projects, but it's always satisfying to come back to the vette and cross another item off the to-do list....

When I replaced the tank and sending unit on my 69, I found that the float wasn't reaching the bottom of the tank. Some gentle bending of the arm cured that.

No leads on replacement panels, but I wouldn't hesitate to build the footwell from scratch. I was in a similar position as you, although I had no missing pieces. With some advice from DUB I fixed it...

That white pontiac firebird convertible reminds me of my Dad. He had a similar '69, mayfair maize yellow with a white top when I was a kid.
