Say goodbye to Vette magazine.
Vette magazine will not be published anymore along with other car magazines we all grew up with. I don't know if this was already posted here. But I haven't seen it.

I've been a subscriber to 'Vette' for a number of years, but with this recent talk of the shutting down of the print editions of all those magazines, it seems like I haven't received an issue of 'Vette' in a couple of months. What I'm wondering, is what are they going to do, with the people that they "conned" into buying 2-3 year subscriptions to the print editions. Along with 'Vette', I have subscriptions to 'Hot Rod', 'Car Craft', and "Muscle Car Review', all paid up, for at least 2 more years.
It seems that the ownership is engaged in fraud, if it actively sold subscriptions to what consumers thought was a printed magazine, knowing they were going to "pull the plug" on them.....In fact, I just received the latest issue of 'Hot Rod', 3-4 days ago, and there was a subscription card in it.

It is sad, but a sign of the times. I subscribed to a few magazines that have done the same.
"Hot Bike" is gone. "Easyriders", the iconic Harley magazine, has reduced their book to a quarterly. The next step is going completely digital.
I still enjoy flipping through a physical magazine, but they are becoming a thing of the past.

I've been a subscriber to Vette mag for 20+ years. Lots of good info and ideas over the years. Got tired of all the over the top dream builds that the normal gut will never do and wished they would of had articles about the average guys vette mods. T

In the past, I've had mags that went out of business - in those cases, they sent letters saying that the remaining months of the subscription was being transferred to magazine 'xyz'...in this case, probably Hot Rod or Motor Trend. I didn't try, but I assume that if you called and complained, they might refund the remaining subscription amount instead.
I think that there's a "communication" to my state's Attorney General's office, in the near future......

I had that happen, several years ago, but I forget which magazine I subscribed to, that went out of print. However, this time around, I subscribe to three of the magazines that this group owns, and there are no others, within the group, that would be acceptable substitutes to me.
(And as I mentioned above, if you called the mag and complained, they would probably refund your unused portion of the subscriptions.)

Sad...there are four on the list that I will no longer get. I guess I will getting Motor Trend until 2030. I just am not a big fan of sitting at the computer all day reading the digital versions. Soon we will have internet chips in our brains and will not need external computers at all anymore. Remember the original Star Trek episode where a bunch of old aliens in white robes stood around and communicated with their brains...must have had a good Wi-Fi system.

Yep. The day the music (magazine) died......I have subscriptions to Car Craft, Chevy High Performance, Super Chevy, Vette, and Hot Rod.. Now I guess it's just Hot Rod til 2030 or a refund. And my latest Hot Rod contained subscription cards for Car Craft. Also, I just got a "last chance" renewal request in the mail for Super Chevy and a discount for $5.00 Christmas gift subs for friends....what nerve !!!

I had a subscription to Corvette Fever for years...always enjoyed flipping thru there and getting all the tips in the "Shark Bites" section.
Still cant read a magazine online...doesnt seem right.
Anybody know an outlet to get rid of the old magazines? I have a few boxes of Corvette Fever and Vette magazine, seems a shame to just dump them in the trash.

You know....some print magazines might be come rare collectibles in the future. I have been saving some of the special ones to review in my old age....perhaps I will be able to afford the good cat food.

No growth = death with increasing costs (postage, wages in tight labor market, printing, and paper, marketing costs, etc. Without a critical mass of subscribers they can't get advertisers to pay the increasing bills, and advertisers are mainly focusing on digital media these days. Its not betrayal, many of the above mentioned rags are well past their day, and boomers are no longer the dominant American consumer. Millennials demand digital and aren't huge car buffs, a lot of Americans anymore don't even speak english - let alone share the passion for cars - and, when was the last time any of us have stood at a magazine stand to shop for one with occasional exception at an airport with its limited selection.
Basic, cold & cruel but realistic economics, same as how our own household resources get prioritized for life. Or, eventual death.
