I slipped some thin proper ID brass tube over the cancelling spring pins. Fixed the problem right proper. Tube wall was maybe .007"-.010". Used a bit of adhesive to keep them in place.

Overhauled meant somebody had the motor rebuilt in 2007. I was not chasing down any particular running problem, just going thru and checking everything, like timing, oil level, does the AC work, etc....
