My 76 does not have one either. I do not believe they ever had one, as when you take it apart...it just does not look like there ever was one.

Hmmm...interesting discussion

I have no emperical data to back this up, but back in my "younger years" Most of my buddies prefered the pontiac motors over the chevy motors. At the time I was driving Fords with the 390 in them....

Cheer up!

Don't feel bad. I have a 76 and a 84. I know from experience that there is nothing wrong with your car that a few thousand dollars can't fix. Just dumped new motor into the 76 :-)
Good Luck!!

From what you stated...

If I understand, When it does not start, you mean it doesn't roll over. It sounds like you have a ground problem(for my first guess), or you do have a problem with the solenoid/starter which hasn't...

OK then ....

Since I never use the parking brake, it is fairly safe to rule that out. As far as intermittent caliper hang up, whats the solution? Take it out and beat on the breaks for an hour to loosen them up?

Just wondering...

Have you looked at you calipers to see if perhaps they have rusted up a little, and what you experienced was just them binding up, and then breaking loose again? I have had this happen on other cars...

Any of the suggestion could be possible. I would not consider replacing it all until you look for the things mentioned. If you brake pads are to worn, you might experience what you stated. Booster is...

I'm no expert...

I remember Lars saying somewhere that a stock 350 only needs around 400cfm. If yours is 625, you should be just fine, unless you have mod'ed the crap out of it. Have you checked your plugs to see...

I'm Curious...

I used to have a 95 firebird with T-tops. Under extreme excelleration, the frame would flex, and the tops would pop out. What are you guys doing to beef up the frame to keep it from flexing under so...

My 76

My 76 is the same way. I have to lift it slightly, tip it towards the front of the car and then wiggle it out the rest of the way

I'd get a second opinion about not being able to...

I'd get a second opinion about not being able to match the paint. It might be they are just to lazy to do it, and want you to pay to repaint the whole car. I have relatives who work in paint shops,...

my 76 does that as well

I also get some blackness, but that is a result of the prior motor dieing. I imagine it will take years to get all the black out of my duals. The engine I have now works great, and over time, I get...

That being the case, since it is the flexable hose I need to replace, I don't really have...
