New Battery??? Advice Would Help.
I am thinking of replacing the battery as it is now almost 4 years old. Any good advice on best battery replacement, or just be safe and go back with GMAC Delco stock?
I'm sure this topic has been posted to death somewhere before my time on CF but, cannot spend hours reading posts to find all I am looking for. Thanks very much for any feedback.
Thanks,
Doug

Everybody has their own prefence so you're about to get advice on every battery manufactured. I went more for a good look and have had decent luck with Optima red top.

Don't forget that you'll probably have to reset the window indexing after the new battery is connected.
Close the car door. Raise the window and hold the up switch an extra 3 seconds. Release. Without lowering the window, hold the up switch again for 3 seconds. Release. Done. Don't forget the other window.

I've had excellent service from the factory Delcos, so when I did a precautionary replacement on our 2009 this Fall, I used another Delco.
But if your new battery dies on a Sunday morning, getting a replacement from AutoZone or some similar store, would be easier.

Subscribed. Need a new battery and not interested in a red or yellow top as it will clash with the underhood paint work.
Suggestions on the proper battery with a good warranty?
Thanks

Whatever battery you get, make sure it:
-- is well-charged
-- is a size that fits... 2 different battery trays and several minor variations over the years
-- has the correct post orientation!
From another thread:
Lots of "best battery" threads, like these:

From another thread:
...If you regularly use a good battery maintainer (like a CTEK), it almost doesn't matter which replacement battery you use... the maintainer will keep it well-charged. Then you can shop for the cheapest battery that fits.
Some folks shop for the best price at Costco, Walmart, etc.
Some folks, like me, have gotten great service from the OEM Delco battery.
Some folks love Optima batteries... red or yellow, depending on your needs. IMO this gives extra peace-of-mind -- at a price.
Some folks will only buy a Sears battery... in my mind, they have a deserved reputation for great service & warranty, and IIRC their Platinum series is highly rated.
Cost-no-object Odyssey battery thread (with great install details):
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...-c6-coupe.html
But that Odyssey weighs 49 lbs and costs $258... 12.5 lbs and $50 more than an Optima.
Bottom Line: Decide what YOU need and how much you're willing to spend.

Same battery in my car too, and an an Advance Auto Gold 90 in my daily car. All look 100% identical to the OEM Delco, and top notch warranty. Check the Advance site, as usually a pretty good discount for ordering online. Pick it up at your local store.
