Optima battery install, lots of wiggle room??
Started having battery troubles and my battery had just finally bit the bullet. So I went and got a Optima red top today (optima 35 series) and installed it. When installing I noticed there was a lot more play room for the battery to slide around. And the battery hold down with the 13mm bolt wasnt doing much either. So my question is has anyone else experienced this? And what did you come up with to fix the problem?
Thanks Drew

Optima has several different battery adapters made to fit properly with the existing hardware/hold down. Sounds like a trip back to where you purchased the battery. This link will show the different adapters

I know there was a change at one point but not sure what year it was. If you notice the positive post is on the passenger side of the car. At some point I know the positive post changed to the drivers side of the car.

The change must have been 06 I just looked on optimabatteries.com. I would have never payed attention to that. Im just gonna try the different pieces that came with it tomorrow and see if I cant get those to work. If not a trip to autozone to figure something out. Thank you again for all the pics and your help.

Well I have the Optima Red group 25, part #9025-160. I got it at Autozone. The clerk looked up the part number in the Optima book, then cross checked it with the Autozone computer.
I stood very attentive as I watched the 40 something blonde bend over the engine bay and install it. I though to myself... now that'll be a snug fit.

Nope. It's more complicated than you'd expect: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...-c6-coupe.html
Bottom Line: The Group 35 Optima is 12 mm shorter and 50 mm taller than the OEM Group 90 in your 2007.
But, according to the above thread and Bugman's website, some folks have installed the Group 35 battery. I believe you use the stock bolt, but need a new clamp from Optima... I don't know for sure because I've never done it nor seen any install details specific for a 2007 -- maybe someone who's installed a Group 35 in a 2007 will chime in.
In 2005 the positive terminal is on the left... but it's on the right in all other years.
So, it's possible to install the wrong battery backwards and fry your electronics.
A cautionary tale: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...-to-start.html
