My '06 is going to need a battery soon. Voltage is low after sitting for a couple of weeks, and engine cranks a little slow. My questions are:
(1) Will losing power during the change have any affect on computer or radio memory?
(2) The original Delco battery has lasted just over 5 years, any other brand highly recommended by anyone? I understand this might be personal preference.

You gotta realize, there's only a few manufacturers that make batteries for all the labels. My favorite kind, are top line auto parts store brands with coupon codes posted here from other forum members. My 06' ZO6 has an Autozone Duralast Gold battery I paid $80 buck's for. Recently got the same deal from Advance Auto for another car. Both These Gold batteries are 7yr pro/3yr free replacement. How the heck you gonna beat that. The latest Advance code 9-03-11 "BIG35" is $35 bucks off a battery. You have to order online, but will be on the store counter next day.

So I can pick up a duragold from AA right now for $85. I was originally gonna go with a duralast from autozone but I don't see any coupons. Any idea if one is better then the other?

I got 60k on my 06, I've had the battery our of my 06 twice. First only buy a Delco Professional which is still mad in the USA. Ohter Delcos are now made in china. I've never lost my radio settings, the most I''ve had to do is reset the windo index on one occasion the drivers side. On the other the passenger side. good luck, Dusty

My Delco Professional 6YR has been great and is 4 years old now....but alas, it was 'Hecho en Mexico'...says so stamped into the top of the case.

Regardless of which battery you choose the easiest way to insure that you don't loose any settings is to take a battery charger or another battery (not the one you are going to install) and put jumper cables on the good battery and put the cables from the charger or other battery across the battery terminals on the bad battery after you loosen the bolts. Remove the cables from the posts and switch batteries. Simple and it's just a little extra insurance.

You don't need to do any of this and what is suggested is dangerous. Just replace the battery, re-index the windows and get on with life, and you won't need the extra insurance.

Before you give up on a battery try disconnecting the negative terminal before you hook up the charger. Then use a slow charge at least overnight and chances are good it will recover.

Haven't seen the Autozone 20% coupon's listed lately, but a member in the C3 section updates Advance Auto codes, and mentioned was the latest one. Worked for me last month, as just put an AutoCraft #78 Gold in another car for $80 bucks w/exchange. 800 CCA, Power Frame design, and most importantly 3yr free replacement. As mentioned, you purchase online, and pick up at the store next day.

I disconnect the battery every time I do any maintenance that deals with the electrical system. It is a non issue.

I recommend just replacing it now - better than getting stranded. A battery costs about $2/month, why save 10 cents?

I replaced my 06 C6 battery when it reached 5 years old, and I had no signs of imminent battery death. I've been stranded enough over my life to n o longer see the thrill in it.

I replaced it with a factory original OEM battery - I think I paid about 100 or so for it (through the military exchange). I'll replace it again in February 2016.

My suggestion: Since you got good service from your AC Delco battery, keep it simple & get an identical replacement.

But if you decide to get something else, be sure to get a correct-size battery with the right post orientation!

That is, the batteries are different for some C6 years. For instance, the 05 battery tray is a different size than your 06. And the posts are reversed!

If you replace the battery yourself, here's a tip: There's no need to remove the cone-shaped nut on the terminal clamp -- just loosen it. That way you won't lose it... last time I checked, you can't buy one from Chevy, they're only available with the whole cable assembly ($150?).

You got 5+ years with your ACDelco and you're looking to change brands? That's a great service life. I think you're fine with either ACDelco or Duralast (which I happen to use).

Charge it and have it load tested at Auto Zone for free. Then you'll know if it is good or not.

As mentioned a few posts back, at that age, why mess around over $100 buck's. I feel that way about most lead acid batteries, as recently replaced all the 3-4 year old sealed jobs for my home office PC back up, home alarm system, ext. From experience, much better than having them die at the worst possible moment.
