Default Differences between z06 and grand sport

Guys, what are the main differences. I know about the aluminum body, magnesium roof and engine cradle, but what else is different? Carbon fiber fenders and the 427? Same clutch, trans, wheels?

Looks like you already know the "main" differences. The engine alone is enough of a difference. Isn't it?

Just to clarify, the Z06 does not have an aluminum body (nor does any Corvette)! It has an aluminum frame. Wheels are Z06-specific, Z06 roof is not removable.

Just playin with the overly sensitive ZO6 guys. Both are great cars and, both serve different purposes. Which one is better depends upon the needs & wants of the owner.

As the owner of a lowly base coupe, I'd be happy with either!

And with just $600 in DR's you own a true 10 second car

Not many can make that claim.

It did not take long to prove I was correct. Relax guys no need to be so sensitive. We all know you have a great Corvette and, you are just so

Z06 is higher horsepower, lower weight, higher cost.

GS is similar looks, similar grip, heavier weight, lower power, removable top, more forgiving for novices.

To the original poster's question, in addition to what he has already listed.

Aluminum frame
LS7
Lighter weight overall, lighter frame weight
Carbon fiber front fenders
Different differential and case (Z06 & C6 Diffs are not interchangable, nor are the ring and pinions)
Internally in the transmission there were also a few changes with the most significant being that they upgraded the outputshaft from a 27 spline to a 30 spline shaft (Viper size). In doing this the internal spline of the pinion gear was also increased.
Different transmission gearing
Z06 specific gauge cluster
Different shocks and springs
Different exhaust manifolds
Different dual mode exhaust
Dry sump and battery in back in all cars
Wixom hand assembled engine all cars
All Z06s contain the character "E" as the 8th character in the VIN to denote the LS7.
They hand build the LS3's in wixom too, I believe. Are you sure the shocks and springs are different? Thanks for the info!!

If that makes you feel good I'm happy for you. I figured you just forgot to mention that detail?

I can't wait for the ZR1 owners to start getting upset about how similar the new Carbon Corvette Z06 is to their cars.
It'll take some of the pressure off of us Z06 owners having to complain in all these GS/ vs. Z06 threads. lol
