will c7 be the corvette that finally is on par with the c4 ?

The C3 was a game changer, the C4 was another game changer, they are both Corvette from any angle, and the C7 imitates a Camaro. That's why I think you see so many threads on older Corvettes cropping up on these forums. People want real Corvettes, not Corvmaros, and if we have to turn to prior generations, I guess for some of us, that's what we will do.
Finally, if enough Corvette fans vote No with their wallets on the C7, GM will wake up and turn it back into a Corvette.
Boycott the Corvmaro and GM will have to rethink their error.

Was this:
Ummmm.... yea. I can barely tell them apart.
Have you actually seen a C7 in person? Judging by your assessment of it, it certainly seems as if you haven't.

They got the C7 right. Finally got some sharp lines to a vette design for the first time since the C4 kicked off. I never liked the C5 or C6....too mitsubishi eclipse looking...no sharp lines.

maybe it all depends on who the C7 is aimed at, Corvette afficinado's or the general car buying public, Ive a feeling if you put a red C7 without badges in front of 50 members of the general public they would probably ask "is it a Ferarri?" or some other European Supercar, not "is it a C6/Camaro" what Im trying to say is the factory is trying to sell cars, preferably in large numbers, I dont suppose its gonna matter if that car "looks like" a Camaro, C6, or anything else.
If it proves to be as good as the C4 in that respect then thats gotta be good for the continuation of the marque

And now, while it is a technical and performance stand out, the C7 design team (actually the 2010 Camaro design team) looked not toward Ferraris or 50 years of Corvette tradition, they looked toward...Camaros? Really? Is this some kind of joke?
I actually did plan to buy a C7 as a 60th birthday present to myself in 2015, complete with the factory tour and all, but that plan is on hold until GM decides to start building Corvettes again, and not Corvmaros.

I bought a new gold 84 with W82! MT Car of the Year decal was in the LS lower corner of the hatch glass. We thought those new 84s were really something compared to the previous generation. My 84 had Z51 too, and I was totally impressed to say the least. I thought it handled superbly (by the standards of that day). Of course it could have used more power but nobody else had much power in those times either. 84 with Z51 may be in more demand soon because it was the first Corvette to have that level of engineering.
Incidentally, the 2000 Corvette earned the "Best Engineered Car in the World" award by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers)

Anyone who uses the word corvmaro other than attempting to make a bad joke is clueless. Lets see the list of interchangeable body parts. These two cars are nothing at all alike, period. Based on your interpretation the C4 and Caprice both had LT1s so they must have been designed by the same teem to imitate each other.

I'm confused and maybe I missed something; I thought that this thread was about the relative impact the C4 had at it's introduction, compared to the current introduction of the C7 and how it's impact will play out. That's what *I* thought the thread was about.
IF this thread is really about "what is a better machine, the C4 or the C7?"...well then, I completely missed that, and there shouldn't be much question at all.
The C7 is an awesome machine (on paper) and I'd consider one...but only after a real, TEST DRIVE. I won't make the same mistake that I did with my C6, again.

As for the C7 representing the same jump that the C4 made from the C3, well, that's a really tough act to follow. Even to look at the C7, you can see the C4 heritage in it as with the C5 and the C6. The C4 is more or less the grandfather of the modern design. But the technology today, allows the newer Vettes to perform at high levels on the track, and still be smooth comfortable daily drivers. I mean really, if you look at it, to say that the C6 is really a really fun and capable car on the track at it's limits, and yet to have street manners that make it somewhat almost boring to commute with, is really about the highest praise you could give a Corvette engineer. That's exactly what they designed the car to be.
What I see here is that the Corvette has followed the needs and desires of one generation. The 'babyboomers' has been the Corvette's base demographic since it's inception in '53. Well, alot of these folks are going to be retiring from Corvette ownership before too long, possibly. So GM has to start rethinking the car to attract the next 20 years worth of enthusiasts, and I believe the C7 is a subtle start in that direction.
As far as being butt-hurt, not me. I love my LT4, it's so much fun to drive that I'm always disappointed when I reach my destination. That's why I always take the long way when I drive it to work. But, if I were in a position to trade it for a C6 right now, I would without a second thought.
